Murugan confident Vel Yatra will proceed from November 6
BJP state president L Murugan on Tuesday met Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Governor Banwarilal Purohit over the recent nod to the 7.5 per cent reservation bill for government school students who cleared NEET. The BJP leader submitted a resolution adopted by the TN BJP unit which thanked the administrators for the move that will benefit students from economically weaker sections.

When asked whether Murugan met the CM seeking his nod for the Vel Yatra planned by the BJP on November 6, Murugan said that the meeting was only to thank the Chief Minister for the reservation bill and nothing to do with politics.
To a query that the VCK and the Left parties have demanded the state to ban the Vel Yatra, Murugan said that the rally will commence as per the plan on November 6. We will distribute free N95 masks during the rally and register our protest against the DMK and the Karuppur Koottam. The BJP on Tuesday also lodged a fresh complaint with the DGP office seeking the arrest of those behind Karuppar Koottam.
HC to hear petition against rally today
The state DGP, while replying a petition against BJP’s proposed Vel Yatra from November 6, said that the police department would consider the points raised by the petitioner before taking a final decision on the subject. “Your averments will be also taken into consideration while taking decision on subject matter by the unit officer concerned,” said the DGP in his reply. The petitioner P Senthil Kumar’s PIL is expected to come up for hearing in HC on Wednesday.
