Thoothukudi police seize four tusks during routine check, arrest two men

The accused have been identified as G Rajavel (33) of Ganeshapuram and M Muniyasamy (43) of Ganeshan Colony in Thoothukudi, sources said. Thoothukudi SP S Jeyakumar, when contacted, said the duo were held on suspicion when a special team was engaged in patrolling to check any ganja peddling and selling. The duo in a couple of bikes sped away after spotting the special team, who chased down the accused and nabbed them. While checking their bikes, the pieces of tusks were found covered in polythene bags and concealed inside a petrol tank pouch. The duo while investigating confessed that they were in possession of the tusk to sell it. Further, the SP said the seized tusks were handed over to the Forest Department for further investigation and action.
