CM to lay foundation for Phase-II of Chennai Metro on Saturday
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami is set to lay foundation stone for projects worth more than Rs 67,000 crore including Phase-II of Chennai Metro during the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the state on Saturday.

The Phase-II of Chennai Metro will be carried out at an estimated cost of Rs 61,843 crore. Apart from Phase-II of Chennai Metro, the Chief Minister will lay foundation stone for construction of a flyover at Coimbatore-Avinashi Road at the cost of Rs 1,620 crore, construction of a shutter-dam across river Cauvery in Nanjai Pugalur in Karur district, expansion of Chennai Trade Centre at the cost of Rs 309 crore, construction of a petroleum terminal at Vallur by Indian Oil Corporation at the cost of Rs 900 crore, construction of a Lube Plant at Ammulavoyal at the cost of Rs 1,400 crore and a jetty at Chennai Kamarajar Port at the cost of Rs 900 crore.
The Chief Minister will also dedicate a new water reservoir constructed at Thervoy Kandigai in Tiruvallur district built at a cost of Rs 400 crore for public. Water from Thervoi Kandigai will be supplied to water bodies in Chennai.
The inauguration and foundation stone laying functions will be held in Kalaivanar Arangam on Saturday evening in which Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be the chief guest.
