    • Cyclone Burevi — which is brewing in the Bay of Bengal — is expected to cross the Sri Lanka coast on December 2 and bring heavy rain over Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

    • It will bring isolated extremely heavy falls over south Tamil Nadu in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, Ramanathapuram and Sivaganga areas on December 2 and 3. In south Kerala, it will bring showers at Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzah areas on December 3.

    • Strong winds ranging from 55-75km per hour are likely during the next two days. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea till the end of the week.

    • At least three people had died and over  2,064 trees were uprooted when cyclone Nivar struck Tamil Nadu last week. It also caused damage to about 108 power transformers and over 2,927 electric poles.

    • Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palniswami had on Friday expressed his condolences to the victims' families and said he ordered financial assistance of ₹ 10 lakh each -- ₹4 lakh from the State Disaster Relief Fund and ₹6 lakh from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.
