    MBBS/BDS counselling ends, 477 seats vacant

    As the counselling for medical and dental courses for admission to government and self-financing colleges in the State under the general category came to a close on Thursday, there are 275 MBBS seats in government colleges and 202 in self-financing colleges are vacant. Now, the counselling based on community rank for students of SC, ST and SCA categories will begin on Friday.

    On the last day, 551 general category candidates were called to attend the counselling session held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, of whom 93 were allotted MBBS/BDS seats. Of the 393 candidates who attended the counselling, 42 secured MBBS seats at government colleges and 10 to self-financing institutions. So far, 2,643 candidates have been allotted MBBS/BDS seats in the general category.

    In the case of BDS admissions, 15 seats at government colleges were filled during the day, and there are 51 vacant seats. At self-financing institutions, there are 896 vacant seats after 26 were filled on Thursday.

    Of the total participants who attended general counselling, 296 candidates are on the waitlist. Counselling for SC category will be conducted on Friday and Saturday for the aspirants between community ranks 261 and 1,076. Counselling for SCA and ST categories will be conducted on Monday, said officials.
