Mission 200: Stalin launches campaign to defeat AIADMK
DMK president MK Stalin on Sunday launched the “Mission 200” campaign, setting a target of over 200 seats for his party functionaries for the ensuing 2021 Assembly polls.

Launching the campaign after an elaborate consultation with his functionaries at party headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, Stalin said that they should be determined that the target is over 200 seats and march towards achieving the target. “Not just one seat less. We should not lose an inch less than 200 seats. Winning over 200 seats is possible only if we work 24 x 7 from today,” he said, issuing a clarion call to his party workers to repeat the electoral victories of 1996 Assembly and 2004 Lok Sabha polls. Remarking that DMK was not facing polls to win 117 seats, which is enough for a party to form the government, the DMK chief said, “We are not running the party to win 117 seats. There is no pride in it.” He recalled the historic 184 seat victory of the party led by late M Karunanidhi in 1971 after CN Annadurai’s demise. Instructing his district secretaries to launch the “We reject AIADMK” for ten successive days from December 23, Stalin said, “We should register the thought in people’s mind that it is a matter of shame to vote for AIADMK. We should have won the previous election itself. The difference between them and us was only one per cent. We should not be complacent this time. We should iron out our differences for victory.”
Meanwhile, in a veiled attack at the BJP, which he claimed was planting a ‘reluctant’ Rajinikanth against the DMK, Stalin said, “We have been facing new challenges every election. Unable to face us, they are creating new politicians.”
