Thoothukudi Anti-Sterlite Shooting: Rajinikanth Summoned for Controversial Remarks
He claimed that “anti-social elements and toxic germs had infiltrated” the agitation in Thoothukudi.

In the case relating to May 2018’s anti-Sterlite protest in Thoothukudi, the Aruna Jagadeesan’s committee has sent summon to actor turned politician Rajinikanth.
He has been asked to appear on January 19 next year. After the infamous shooting during the protest where 13 people were shot to death by the cops, Rajinikanth, visited people the kin of the deceased and paid a visit to those recovering in the hospital.
After his visit, he claimed that “anti-social elements and toxic germs had infiltrated” the agitation. He was earlier summoned to appear on February 25. However, he stated that his appearance may cause public disturbance and agreed to provide a written statement.
