910 more test positive in State, no UK cases
Tamil Nadu recorded a total of 910 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, including five imported cases from other states. The total number of COVID-19 cases in the State is 8,19,845.

Chennai saw a total of 246 fresh cases of COVID-19 and Coimbatore recorded 78 cases, while 64 new cases were reported in Chengalpattu.
On Saturday, as many as 11 more pandemic deaths were reported in the State, including five deaths in private hospitals and seven in government hospitals. The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 in the State has reached to 12,146.
A total of 1,007 more people were discharged from several hospitals across the State. The total number of recoveries from COVID-19 in the State stands at 7,99,427, while there are a total of 8,272 active cases of COVID-19 in the State.
Meanwhile, a total of 62,401 more samples were tested in the State and 62,065 more people tested in Tamil Nadu on Saturday.
Among the UK returnees and their contacts, no new cases were reported. Of a total of 2,300 UK passengers who travelled from November 23, 2020 to December 23, 2020, as many as 2,131 passengers and their contacts have been traced and tested so far. Of them, 2,079 passengers tested negative, 44 people have tested positive and the results of 28 persons are awaited. As many as 2,005 close contacts of the passengers were traced and tested, and all were found to be negative.
