Fishermen spot 160 kg of ganja floating in sea, hand it over to CSG
Upon the advice of the Coastal Security Group, the fishermen reached the shore and handed over the bags to the security personnel who found 160 kg of ganja packed in small quantities worth around Rs 25 lakh.
TIRUCHY: Fishermen from Athirampattinam in Thanjavur netted 160 kg of ganja found floating in the sea on Tuesday and handed it over to the Coastal Security Group personnel. Fishermen led by Somasundaram were fishing at 7 nautical miles off Athirampattinam when they found five bags floating on the sea. They secured them and passed on the information to the Coastal Security Group. Upon the advice of the Coastal Security Group, the fishermen reached the shore and handed over the bags to the security personnel who found 160 kg of ganja packed in small quantities worth around Rs 25 lakh. The officials suspected that the contraband had been transported to Sri Lanka. Further investigations are on.
