Madurai: The discharged water could reach the programme venue in 36 hours, sources said. Commissioner of Madurai Corporation KP Karthikeyan, when contacted, said the discharged water from the dam is expected to reach a day before the schedule. However, since it rained heavily in Madurai and its suburbs, the water could even reach well in advance. All arrangements are being made to facilitate devotees, who could turn up in large numbers since the annual festival is scheduled after a gap of two years. “Several locations have been chosen for parking and the Department of Police would make a final call in this regard,” the commissioner added. Sources said that devotees have been booking tickets online at Rs 500 and Rs 200 to witness ‘Thirukalyanam’, one of the key festivities on April 14. Those with booked tickets would be allowed through North Tower and devotees could also have free access through South Tower, sources said.
