Elderly couple found dead in Karur; probe on
Since the couple did not respond to the neighbours, they alerted Karur Town police, who rushed to the spot and broke open the doors and found Ramakrishnan was lying dead in the kitchen while Sri Lakshmi was found dead in the bedroom.
TIRUCHY: An elderly couple was found dead under mysterious circumstances in their house in Karur on Thursday.
Police said, the couple - Ramakrishnan (75) and Sri Lakshmi (70) were residing at Jawahar Bazaar in Karur for past several years after their two daughters got married and have been living separately. Since Sri Lakshmi was ill for the past six years and was bedridden recently, Ramakrishnan who was a retried KVB employee, was looking after his wife.
It is said, as a routine practice, their daughters used to call them during night and in the morning. As usual, they spoke to their parents on Wednesday night. However, on Thursday morning, they did not pick up the call despite several attempts. The anxious daughters alerted their neighbours, who found the doors were locked from inside.
Since the couple did not respond to the neighbours, they alerted Karur Town police, who rushed to the spot and broke open the doors and found Ramakrishnan was lying dead in the kitchen while Sri Lakshmi was found dead in the bedroom.
The information was passed on to their daughters and the police retrieved the bodies sent them to Karur Medical College hospital for post-mortem.
The police said that there was no injury found in the bodies. Still, a case of suspicious death has been registered and investigations are on.
