36th Mega Vax Drive: At least 12.62 L doses of vaccines administered
A total of 12.62 lakh doses of vaccines were administered at the 36th mega vaccination drive. Of this, 61,202 first doses of vaccines were administered, 2.98 lakh second doses of vaccines and 9.02 lakh precautionary booster doses.
CHENNAI: The 36th mega vaccination drive was organised across the State on Sunday. The mega vaccination drive is being held on every Sunday this month with an aim to promote the administration of precautionary booster dose.
A total of 12.62 lakh doses of vaccines were administered at the 36th mega vaccination drive. Of this, 61,202 first doses of vaccines were administered, 2.98 lakh second doses of vaccines and 9.02 lakh precautionary booster doses.
In Tamil Nadu, as many as 96.49 percent of people above the age of 18 have been vaccinated with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines and 91.09 percent have received both the doses. So far, 5.22 crore doses of vaccines have been administered at the 35 mega vaccination camps.
The precautionary booster dose vaccination remains low as only about 18.92 percent of the target beneficiaries have been vaccinated that has benefitted about 79,68,331 people in the State. The free precautionary booster dose vaccination ends on September 30th and only frontline workers and elderly aged 60 years and above will be given free booster dose thereafter.
In the age group of 12-14 years, at least 19.82 lakh first doses of vaccines have been administered, covering a total of 93.46 percent beneficiaries. A total of 15.31 lakh second doses of vacancies have administered in the same age group with a coverage of 72.21 percent.
The mega vaccination drive was conducted at 50,000 locations including primary health centers, urban primary health centers, Anganwadi centers and urban social welfare centers.
