Largest Natarajar idol installed near Swamimalai

TIRUCHY: The largest panchaloha idol of Natarajar measuring 23 feet in height and weighing 15 tonnes was installed at Thimmakudi village near Swamimalai in Thanjavur on Monday.
Varad Rajh, proprietor of Cast in Bronze Creative studio at Thimmakudi village, had sent a 11-foot Nataraja idol to Switzerland in 2003.
He planned to make the tallest idol (23 ft) of Natrajar and install it at Thimmakudi and sought permission from the Centre for the same.
Though the work for the tallest idol started in 2010, it had to be stopped due to financial crunch. In 2012, the work resumed with the support of Vellore Sri Sakthi Amma Narayani Peedam and the process went on for 10 years.
He completed the idol recented and was handed over on Monday by Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to the Vellore Sri Sakthi Amma Narayani Peedam Trustee Suresh Babu after a puja and abhishekam.
