DVAC raids act of political revenge, says Jayakumar
Raids are under way across several properties of two former Tamil Nadu ministers -- SP Velumani and C Vijayabaskar -- for past irregularities in their respective departments.
CHENNAI: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) raids against former AIADMK ministers were carried out by the present DMK regime to make Opposition parties not talk about the power tariff hike and called it political revenge, said former minister D Jayakumar on Tuesday.
Raids are under way across several properties of two former Tamil Nadu ministers -- SP Velumani and C Vijayabaskar -- for past irregularities in their respective departments. The anti-corruption agency has registered a criminal case against Velumani on allegations that he had used the official position in awarding tenders in injudiciously to his closed associated companies.
In a telephonic interview with Thanthi TV, former AIADMK minister Jayakumar said that the DMK has been trying to stop the opposition parties from functioning in this situation.
He said that the raid was being conducted to make people forget about the electricity tariff hike.
