CHENNAI: Naam Tamilar Katchi Chief Seeman and ace director Vetrimaran are set to join hands for a movie portraying the history of Raja Raja Cholan and slain LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran. Seeman made the announcement in his official Twitter page, on Thursday.
According to the announcement, Seeman will produce the movie while Vetrimaran will direct it. Quoting the words of Ambedkar that "the history of suppressed classes will be written by them", Seeman said that "one day we will write our history and on that day the entire world will know our greatness."
After part one of Mani Ratnam directed 'Ponniyin Selvan' movie got released, lot of controversies started surrounding the movie as pro-Tamil groups alleged that the history of Cholas have been portrayed in a bad light and Vetrimaran, in a function, said that there are attempts to show Raja Raja Cholan as a Hindu king. Vetrimaran's speech was criticised by many right-wing organisations.
Under the circumstances, the actor-turned-politician Seeman announced the decision to produce the movie himself. However, there is no information yet on whether the histories of Raja Raja Cholan and Prabhakaran will be taken as a single movie or as two different movies.
