Seeman invites Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan to join NTK

CHENNAI: Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) Chief Seeman on Friday invited Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan, who recently resigned from DMK, to join NTK.

"While you were in the organisation (DMK) you functioned independently. Now, even when you are alone you are an organisation. Tamils around the world are ready to celebrate you," said Seeman, in an open letter written to the former Deputy General Secretary of DMK.

Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan, former Member of Parliament, recently resigned from DMK. While there were many rumours given as the reason for her exit, Seeman has listed two- one being her opposition for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) due to which she faced stiff opposition from DMK top brass and another one being not able to freely criticise BJP.

"I stand by your side on your comments on MGNREGA. I strongly feel that our Tamil community is on the verge of facing destruction due to the employment scheme. I wanted to tell you that your son (Seeman himself) is always in support of her,” said Seeman.

He also said that he was astonished to see her commitment towards ideological firmness and asked her to continue criticising BJP. "Do not think that you are alone just because you have resigned from DMK. Continue to criticise BJP. Only because of women like you there is still a feeling of Tamil race and respect in this land,” said Seeman.

He further said that he always had a great respect for her since his childhood and was proud to address her as his mother.
