But there’s one feature that’s been missing, until now. The AirPods Pro, the third chapter in the AirPods story adds noise cancellation and it’s quite a game changer for these buds.It all begins with a ‘fit test’ that tests the ear tip seal and also identifies the best ear-tip size (you can choose from small, medium and large). It underlines the AirPods’ emphasis to deliver the perfect fit and also shut out external sounds. A capacitive force sensor located on the stem (of both AirPods) allows you to manage multiple controls with a simple press. A hard press takes you from noise cancellation mode to transparency mode (that allows you to plug into external sounds), while a double press lets you skip forward to the next track. You don’t need to tap your AirPods to activate Siri with the clever voice-activated option.
Sound quality takes a leap over earlier generations of AirPods with an Apple-designed high-excursion, low distortion driver. You get greater bass extension and very detailed mid and high frequency extension. The other headline feature is wireless charging. All you need is a Qi-certified charger to power up your Pro, and eliminate the charging cable. It’s one of the many handy features that make the AirPods Pro a solid upgrade from its predecessors.(Rs 24,900)
POCO X2: It’s been about 18 months since POCO’s first device — the F1, debuted in India. Xiaomi has decided to rollout the brand’s second device — the POCO X2, exclusively for the Indian market. It’s essentially the Redmi K30 Pro (that was launched in China) rebadged and it is likely to disrupt the sub Rs 20,000 segment with its premium build quality. The rear quad cam is enclosed in a circular ring and is the standout design element. It plays out particularly well on the chic matrix purple variant. We also dig the power button that doubles up as the fingerprint sensor.
The POCO X2 becomes the first smartphone in India kitted with the 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor. It’s the primary lens in the versatile rear quad cam that also includes a macro lens. A dual selfie cam (20MP + 2MP) completes the camera set up. Results are quite sharp in ambient light and average in lowlight. The X2 is also one of the first devices to offer a 120Hz display at this price point. Everything from scrolling web pages to gaming is buttery smooth on the 6.67-inch Full HD+ display.
