At present, online classes are taken only by a few private universities and that, too, for only engineering students. A senior official from DoTE told DT NEXT that online coaching initiative is expected to benefit several lakh students studying technical education courses in various stages.

Stating that several portions could not be covered by most of the colleges, he said that online training will help the students complete the syllabus before semester exams begin after reopening of colleges.

To complete the pending portions, more than 600 links of e-lecture videos, prepared by experts, with QR code has been hosted on DoTE’s website (http://www.tndte.gov.in/), the official pointed out.

The official claimed that the team, which compiled the e-lectures, comprises software professionals, senior Higher Education Department officials and principals.

He said another module with 700 videos will be hosted soon. Stating that each video module costed the exchequer Rs 8,000, the official said that the e-lectures covered all the subjects, including Engineering Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics,

Chemistry, Automobile, Electrical, civil and Electronics. In addition to the e-lecture videos, e-textbooks were also available on the website, he added.

“Similarly, e-question bank is also available for the students”, the official said, adding, “Model question papers for all subjects have been uploaded for the benefit of the students.”
