Czech FM calls for stricter approach against anti-Semitism
There are relatively few violent anti-Semitic incidents in the Czech Republic, but one can observe the spread of hate on the Internet.
Czech Foreign Minister Tomas Petricek on Tuesday called for stricter approach against anti-Semitism at the opening of an exhibition honoring victims of the Holocaust.
"As a diplomat and political scientist, I see the remembrance of the Holocaust ... crucial for us as well as for the future generations, especially at the time of a disturbing rise in anti-Semitic attacks, racism and xenophobia," Petricek said at the opening of the exhibition entitled "Talent Is Desire".
According to him, there are relatively few violent anti-Semitic incidents in the Czech Republic, but one can observe the spread of hate on the Internet. "It is important for us to go through our legislation again, especially on the spread of anti-Semitism on the Internet," he said.
The exhibition was opened on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day which fell on Monday.
