A salutation to earth, the song is an amalgam of styles rendered by the finest musicians, strung together by a beautiful background score. Each singer brings alive the music that has been composed in different languages; and the poetry speaks of Earth, either of our dependence on it or our admiration of it. “The theme for Earth Day 2020 is climate action and this cause is something close to my heart. I feel like we should learn to value that we are the dispensable ones, and therefore dependent on the earth. I was fortunate to have been schooled in Krishnamurti Foundation India, Chennai, where I was very close with nature. So nature and natural environments have always been played a very significant role in my life. Therefore, this is a cause that I organically relate to,” says Amrit. The song is commissioned by Earth Day Network (EDN), a global environmental NGO that creates awareness and urge people to join the global movement for a less polluted planet, where waste is managed. The song that is made in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Punjabi and Gujarati is sung by Shankar Mahadevan, Shweta Mohan, Abhay Jodhpurkar, Abhishek Raghuram, Bombay Jayashri, Hansraj Hans, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Mahesh Kale and MD Pallavi.

Talking about the project, Amrit explains, “Music is among the very few things that have the power to inspire and influence. The exciting and challenging part of this project was that I only had virtual contact with most of the artistes.” The song will be launched online on April 22.
