Sex worker assaults man for giving fake notes
A 50-year-old man who gave fake notes to a transgender commercial sex worker was beaten up by the latter under Kasi bridge on 100 Feet Road at Ekkaduthangal on Thursday night.

Sources said the man handed over eight notes of Rs 100 denomination to the transperson. But before he could get away, she realised it was fake notes and thrashed him. Based on an alert from the passer-by who witnessed the incident, a police team rushed to the spot and took custody of the man, identified as Prakash of Kosapet, a AC mechanic.
He was first taken to Guindy police station and later to a clinic where two stitches were administered on the wounds he suffered on his head when he was assaulted by the transperson. Prakash told the police that he had received the notes from a place in North Chennai. He said he gave the notes thinking that CSW would not realise that they were counterfeit because it was night. He is being questioned further.
In another incident, a gang of transpersons allegedly robbed a woman of Rs 5,000 at Peters Road in Royapettah. They intercepted the woman on the pretext of blessing her and robbed her. According to the police, the victim, Ilakiya (20), is a CA student who is staying at a hostel on Peters Road. She was returning to hostel after finishing class when the incident happened. A group of transpersons intercepted her on the pretext of blessing her and asked her for money. When she opened her purse to take out money, one of them allegedly snatched the purse and the gang fled the scene. Ilakiya lodged a complaint at Anna Salai police station and further inquiry is on.
