Jewels burgled from house in Tiruvanmiyur

In two cases of burglary in the city, a doctor’s house in Tiruvanmiyur was burgled of 30 sovereigns and a laptop and a few other gadgets were swindled by unidentified persons from a retired IAS officer’s house in Mogappair.

In the first instance, Raja Suraleshwaran (55), a doctor from Tiruvanmiyur, had gone to his clinic in Kilpauk. When he returned on Monday evening, he found 30 sovereigns of gold kept in the house missing. However, there were no signs of forced entry, the police said. The police have registered a case and further investigation is on. In the second instance, the main door of a retired IAS officer Ponnusami’s house in West Mogappair was found broken open. The officer was out of the city. When his house help reached the house on Monday morning, they found the main door broken open and alerted Poonusamy. On information, the Nolambur police reachedthe spot and conducted inquiries. The police said that no gold or cash were stolen since Ponnusami did not leave any valuables back home. However, a case has been registered.


Meanwhile, unidentified burglars decamped with 20 sovereigns of ornaments and Rs 20,000 in cash from a house near Perungalathur on Tuesday after cutting openthe door. The victim, Duraimurugan (35) of Devaraj Nagar in Nedunkundram near Perungalathur, is a private firm employee. On Friday, Duraimurugan and his family members had gone to his native to attend a wedding. When they returned home on Tuesday morning, the family found a part of the front door was cut open. When they checked inside the house, 20 sovereigns and Rs 20,000 thatwere missing.


After a complaint was filed at the Peerkankaranai police station, they registered a case and are trying to identify the intruders.
