Hunt for customers as delivery agent tests positive

Explaining the chain of infection, officials said it all started with a PG student at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. A cancer patient whom the student attended at the hospital got the infection. Then, this patient was shifted to a leading cancer hospital, leading to the spread of the disease to several persons, including other patients and healthcare staff.

The 66-year-old, a patient at that institute, was one of those who was infected. His son, the 26-year-old delivery executive, had reportedly met him at the hospital, which is how he got infected, sources said. However, the son was asymptomatic and was delivering food till his father tested positive.

“After the father was tested positive on April 22, his family members were tested and put in isolation,” said an official from the zone, adding that the son is now undergoing treatment at a city hospital.
