12 kg ganja seized in Tiruvottiyur, one held

The accused, Shanmugam of Tondiarpet, was secured based on a tip-off that miscreants were indulging in the illegal sale of liquor bottles in the locality. However, since Shanmugam was in possession of ganja, the cops grilled him further and came to know that he was keeping the banned tobacco products at a house in Tiruvottiyur.

Shanmugam was taken to the house where 12 kg of ganja was found kept hidden. Police seized the drug, apart from 600 sachets of banned chewing tobacco products. He was booked under the NDPS Act and further investigation is on to know the sources from where he is procuring the contraband.
