50 kg ganja being smuggled from AP to Kerala seized
Three men who were smuggling 50 kg ganja in a car from Andhra Pradesh to Kerala were intercepted in Tiruvallur and arrested.

On Saturday morning, the police personnel involved in vehicle check at the integrated check post in Elavur near Gummidipoondi stopped the car bearing the Puducherry registration number on suspicion. A search in the vehicle led to the seizure of bundles of ganja. The total seizure weighed about 50 kg.
Investigation revealed that the contraband was being smuggled from Vijayawada to Kerala. The trio in the vehicle, identified as Jayachandran (44) and Sakthivel of Kerala, and Balakrishnan (60) of Madurai, were arrested by Arambakkam police and the car was seized.
Meanwhile, city police have arrested seven persons, including college students, for peddling ganja. The Tiruvottiyur police secured Shyamkumar (19), a polytechnic student, in possession of 300
grams of ganja during a vehicle check on Friday night. Investigation revealed that he along with two other college students, Gautham (20) and Kamalakannan (20), bought ganja in bulk and sold them in small sachets to fellow students. They were remanded in custody.
Similarly, the Guindy police arrested two youth, Kadhar Moideen (20) of Peravallur and Prakash (21) of Ennore, both pursuing engineering at a private college, and seized 2.5 kg ganja from them. Also, the Mangadu police arrested K Janardhanan (36) of Kundrathur and R Mahesh (25) of Nandambakkam and seized 1.2 kg ganja, two mobile phones and a two-wheeler from them.
