US woman makes ‘resume’ cake to get job in Nike, storms internet

CHENNAI: Building a resume or CV for your dream job is a tough task, but people on the internet have shown ways to make the best first impression through their resumes.

After a Bengaluru job aspirant dressed up as a food-delivery executive and delivers a cake and his resume, North Carolina native Karly Pavlinac Blackburn has taken a step further and made an edible vanilla-flavored cake with her resume.

Sharing the story of her creatively designed cake, Karly in her Linkedin post wrote, "They are not currently hiring for any positions on that team, but I wanted to find some way for the team to know who I was. I was brainstorming with my former colleague Trent Gander. What better way than to send a cake to a big party. I was brainstorming with my former colleague Trent Gander.

When he said, Karly do better, this is a creative place, show up in a creative way, he was right. And then the brainstorming began.

While continuing to narrate her whole story from ordering a resume cake to getting it delivered into the right hands. Karly also gave a shoutout to her delivery agent Denise Baldwin, who made sure that the resume was delivered to the right person. She even mentioned that agent was also inspired by her and recognised her "abilities and qualifications to get something better."

"Denise navigated the Nike campus, all while having a sleeping child in one arm and a ½ sheet cake in the other," Karly informed in her post.

"Delivering the cake that day inspired one person. And maybe this post will inspire more. Helping people realize their potential is what I love to do. At the end of the day it's not about the cake at all. It is about making things happen and taking a chance outside of the box. Denise did it. She did whatever it took to help me get that cake to Nike. And that is what I do. This is why I am different than the pack," she further added.
