CHENNAI: A viral video of a glass octopus named Vitreledonella richardi was posted by 'The Oxygen Project'. As the body of the creature is glass-like, netizens are in shock.
In the Twitter account the caption read, "The glass octopus (Vitreledonella richardi) is a very rarely seen cephalopod found in tropical and subtropical waters around the world. These beautiful creatures are found in the deep sea where sunlight doesn't reach."

The glass octopus (Vitreledonella richardi) is a very rarely seen cephalopod found in tropical and subtropical waters around the world. These beautiful creatures are found in the deep sea where sunlight doesn’t reach.

It is a transparent, gelatinous, and almost colorless meso- to bathypelagic octopod found worldwide in tropical and subtropical seas with a mantle length up to 11 cm (4.3 in) and a total length up to 45 cm (18 in) in adults.
It is in the genus Vitreledonella and of the family Amphitretidae.
