North-East Monsoon: Chennai Metro rail to increase services to cater to passenger demand

Service hours: 05:00 am to 11:00pm (First train departs at 05:00am from all terminal and last train departs at 11:00 pm from all terminals)

CHENNAI: The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has announced increased frequency of services to support Chennai public in view of heavy rains.

Service hours: 05:00 am to 11:00pm (First train departs at 05:00am from all terminal and last train departs at 11:00 pm from all terminals)

Between 08:00 am to 11:00 am and 5:00am to 8:00pm, Metro Trains will be available;

* Green Line: (Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.Ramachandran Central Metro to St. Thomas Mount Metro)- Every 5 minutes

* Blue Line: (Airport to Wimco Nagar Depot) - Every 6 minutes

➢ Between Washermenpet Metro & Arignar Alandur Metro - Every 3 minutes

From 05:00 am to 08:00 am; 11:00am to 5:00pm and 8:00pm to 10:00pm, Metro Trains will be available every 7 minutes in both Blue Line and Green Line.

From 10:00pm and 11:00pm, trains will be available every 15 minutes.

In order to facilitate more frequency of trains in Green Line, direct train from Puratchi Thalaivar Dr.M.G.Ramachandran Central Metro to Airport Metro via Koyambedu, Vadapalani in Green Line will be suspended temporarily on the above said days and passengers from Green Line to Airport shall interchange at ArignarAlandur Metro for Airport, statement from CMRL said.

All the above schedules shall be revised to normal service depending upon the weather condition.

As per the previous experience, passengers are advised not to halt their vehicles at metro station parking lots (St.Thomas Mount and Arumbakkam) prone to water stagnation from 15-10-2024 to 17-10-2024.

Passengers are encouraged to utilise these services and plan their travel accordingly.
