Six courses offered by universities considered ‘equivalent’ to apply for TN govt jobs

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government has announced six degree courses offered by different universities as equivalent to those offered by state universities to apply for employment in public services.

As per the notification from the higher education department, the member secretary of Tamil Nadu state council for higher education passed the resolution from the 28th equivalence committee meeting held on September 25, under the additional chief secretary of the government, higher education department.

"The government after consideration has approved six different courses offered by different colleges/universities to the similar degree for the purpose of employment in public service," the notification read.

The courses that are announced equivalent are; B.Com Accounting and Finance offered by M.O.P Vaishnav College for Women (Autonomous), B.Com Accounting and Finance (2011-14) offered by Women's Christian College (Autonomous), B.Com (Hons.) (Banking, Financial Services and Insurance) offered by the Sastra (Deemed to be University) and B.Com, Professional Accounting offered by Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for women (deemed university).

Additionally, the other two courses that has been approved for public service jobs are; B, Sc., Ed, (integrated) (Chemistry, Botany and Zoology) (Bachelor of Science Education) awarded by university of Mysore and B.Lit., Tamil offered by Annamalai University are among the six courses.
