Caught in a moment of joy, cadres burst crackers in Tirunelveli as the Congress candidate Robert Bruce is on the vege of victory as he secured 3,70,283 votes against his nearest rival Nainar Nagendran (BJP), who got 2,51,279 votes at the end of 16th round.
Much to the shock of the AIADMK, it's candidate stood fourth in the race getting 66,310 votes.
NTK fared better than AIADMK in Tirunelveli with a slender lead of 348 votes.
Kanimozhi retains Thoothukudhi seat
DMK's Kanimozhi Karunanidhi was leading from the morning and finally won the seat in Thoothukudi.
Sowmiya is trailing in Dharmapuri
After trailing behind PMK candidate Sowmiya Anbumani in Dharmapuri Lok Sabha Constituency, DMK’s A Mani took a lead with a margin of 13, 703 votes. At the end of 16th round of counting, DMK candidate had secured 3, 21,493 votes while Sowmiya Anbumani got 3,07,790 votes.

SU VENKATESAN wins Madurai seat
Incumbent CPIM MP Su Venkatesan has won the Madurai LS seat
S. Venkatesan of CPI(M), an ally of the ruling DMK was declared to have won from Madurai LS constituency.
At the end of 17 rounds of counting, Venkatesan secured 3,80,504 votes defeating his nearest rival of BJP's Raama Sreenivasan, who got 1,94,170 votes. AIADMK's P. Saravanan managed to get 1,78,626 votes.
Jubilant cadres burst crackers and offered sweets to the public in celebration. IT Minister PTR Palanivel Thiaga Rajan offered sweet to the victorious candidate on the occasion.

Late DMDK founder Vijayakanth’s elder son V Vijaya Prabhakaran, who entered politics after his father’s death, is putting up a spirited fight against senior Congress MP Manickam Tagore at Virudhunagar Lok Sabha constituency.
After leading in the initial rounds, Vijaya Prabhakaran has conceded lead, but only by a slender margin of 460 votes as per latest numbers.
