Dinakaran attack case: CBI plea put off to April 24

On May 9, 2007, petrol bombs were hurled in Dinakaran paper office and three engineers, Vinoth, Gopinath and Muthuramalingam, were killed. 17 persons including Attack Pandi were arrested but released by CBI Court at Madurai in 2009. CBI had challenged their release in Madurai Bench of Madras High Court and a petition was also filed by Vinoth’s mother, Poonkodi. She had filed the same petition challenging their release. Following that, a non-bailable warrant was issued against the 12 accused in the case. Among them 9 were arrested and another one had surrendered in court. Remaining two, Dhayamuthu and Thirumurugan alias Kattuvasi Murugan, were absconding. On Friday, judges questioned CBI PP for not arresting the remaining two. The PP replied that one of the accused Dhayamuthu was in Malaysia and an open warrant to arrest him was required. Hence the case was adjourned to April 24.
