By-poll issue: DMK to petition Governor today

A delegation of DMK leaders led by its principal headquarters secretary Duraimurugan would on Wednesday petition Tamil Nadu Governor Vidyasagar Rao demanding a thorough probe against Chief Minister K Palanisamy and some of his cabinet colleagues whose names popped up after Income Tax raids on health minister Dr C Vijaya Baskar’s premises.

Highly placed sources in the DMK confirmed that Duraimurugan and three party MLAs have already left the city for Mumbai where they would meet the Governor on Wednesday morning.

The DMK delegation would draw the Governor’s attention to the Election Commission’s order rescinding the April 12 RK Nagar by-poll based on evidence collected in the cash-for-votes scam.

DMK, which has been demanding a CBI probe against the CM and his ministers, would most likely urge the Governor to order a thorough inquiry against them besides demanding action against them for engaging in alleged anti-democratic activities in RK Nagar.

Notably, AIADMK (Amma) faction candidate TTV Dinakaran has dismissed the ‘documents’ seized from Vijaya Baskar’s possession as bogus ones.
