The victim, Pandi, had leased his land to Thavamurugan for the last four years. During the initial year, Thavamurugan cultivated drumstick, but soon took to growing ganja. Recently, Pandi learnt that ganja was being cultivated on his land. When he took up the issue with Thavamurugan, the latter apologised and promised to have his men remove the ganja plants.

Last week, Pandi went missing and his family received a kidnap note stating that he was kept as a prisoner at Dharapuram in Tirupur district. In the meantime, Pandi’s body was recovered from a dry well on the outskirts of Vellaiammalpuram. Police investigation revealed that Thavamurugan along with Kumar and Murugan murdered Pandi.
