Velumani denies allegations, mulls legal action

Municipal Administration Minister SP Velumani on Saturday rubbished reports alleging nepotism in awarding government contracts and asserted that he has not abused his position.

The minister described the charges of a TV channel as baseless. “I have not misused my position or done anything wrong... it is a baseless allegation and without any evidence,” he told reporters.

According to reports, the Municipal Administration Minister is contemplating to take legal action against the TV channel, which carried a report claiming corruption in awarding of contracts.

Moreover, to a query on the release of seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, he said a decision on it has to be taken by Chief Minister Edappdai K Palaniswami.
