Rajinikanth is in the middle of shooting for his upcoming movie Pettai with Karthik Subbaraj.
While most of the shooting is taking place in Uttarakhand, Rajinikanth left to Delhi early and this sparked several rumours that the actor could meet the BJP national president to discuss a potential alliance.
News outlets across North India reported on it, but no official statements were forthcoming from either camp.
However, Rajinikanth’s representatives have come out on Sunday to deny that any such meeting ever took place. They said that the actor was merely passing through Delhi on his way to Lucknow for the shooting.
Meanwhile, the 67-year-old still remains tight-lipped on the official launch of his party, though he recently released a booklet with guidelines for party members following a string of dismissals and internal disputes within the Rajini Makkal Mandram.
Over the past months, the recruitment of members and appointment of office-bearers for various posts have been completed under the supervision of state secretary Raju Mahalingam and chief co-ordinator VM Sudhakar.
A disciplinary action committee has also been constituted to look into any violations by members.
