Who is operating actor Rajini, asks MDMK leader Vaiko

“Why is Rajinikanth trying to highlight the issue that has been long forgotten. Why is Rajinikanth hesitant to say that he will not spread fake news on Periyar. People will naturally get the doubt that who is operating Rajinikanth,” said Vaiko, in a statement.

The recent comments of Rajinikanth on Periyar and his protest against Hindu Gods in Salem, in 1971, has stirred a huge controversy in the state as Dravidian parties and organisations are continuously opposing and condemning the actor for his comments. They also associated Rajinikanth with right wing forces and called him their voice.

Even after criticism rose, Rajinikanth justified his statement and refused to apologise on the issue. His second speech on the issue has further angered the Periyarists who threated to gherao his house following which police protection has been strengthened.

Vaiko said that Dravidar Kazhagam president Veeramani has refuted the statement of Rajinikanth and even after the refutation, “Rajinikanth is hesitating to apologise. According to Rajinikanth, the 1971 incident is just a forgettable event.”

Vaiko further said that Rajinikanth has stirred the controversy and he should end it.
