Residents of Kamarajpuram in Mandalavadi village panchayat under Jolarpet panchayat union, were worried and tensed when five goats belonging to farmers in the region were found dead in the morning with bite marks on their bodies and some with half their bodies eaten. Two more goats also suffered bite marks on their haunches but were alive.

Officials confirmed the news after they did not find any images of wild animals being caught on camera, which was set up in the village. They added that the pug marks shown around the sheep pens were that of a rabid dog and not a leopard.

The fear of the leopard in the village was due to an incident that took place in a village near Ambur, in which six sustained injuries from a leopard attack hiding in a sugarcane grove.
