Let’s pray from home this Ramzan, urge Tamil Nadu officials

In a press release, the officials noted that during bad weather, heavy rain or severe cold, the Prophet used to direct the muezzin to announce that no one needs to come to the mosque for jama’at, and that the Farz namaz could be prayed at home. “Let’s remember that inclement weather is nothing compared to a pandemic. Let’s also remember that causing harm or death by negligent behaviour is a grave crime in law and a grievous sin in religion. Carelessness in times such as these has a severe social and political repercussion,” stated the press release. The officials also suggested social distancing as the most effective preventive measure to contain the spread of novel coronavirus. “Thus, the Tawaf in Kaba remains suspended for the last two months, and congregational prayers are not being held in any mosque,” the release reminded.

Observe the lockdown and social distancing as laid down by the Central and State governments, added the officials.

“In the month of Ramzan, many of us would be eager for Taraweeh. We know that it is not Farz. When the Farz namaz is not being held in Jama’at, there is no justification for Taraweeh either,” the release said. “The best way to serve God is to serve humanity. There is no better worship than charity. Let’s make this Ramzan more blessed by feeding the hungry and serving the needy,” the release further noted.
