No +ve cases in Central dists for four days
The Central districts, which recorded no COVID-19 cases for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday, offered a ray of hope among the people.

The eight central districts- Tiruchy, Thanajvur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukkottai, Karur, Perambalur and Ariyalur had as many as 235 cases with with a maximum of 55 cases in Thanjavur and just one case in Pudukkottai. Though the region had only a few cases till April 10, there was a steady increase in the number of cases after that and Tiruchy and Thanajvur were enlisted in the red-zone for having more than 50 cases.
However, on April 10, Tiruchy had as many as 3045 persons with a travel history to abroad and other states and were home quarantined while as many as 43 persons, including two from Karur and one each from Erode, Perambalur and Ariyalur who tested positive were admitted to MGMGH. Later, the number rose to 51 and all were put in the isolation ward in MGMGH. Till April 27, 45 were discharged.
Interestingly, the Karur Medical College Hospital which housed patients from the adjacent districts like Dindigul, Theni and Namakkal had discharged as many as 151 cured COVID-19 patients. On Wednesday, five cured patients from Dindigul including a 95 year old woman were discharged. Earlier, the Karur Medical College had the task of taking care of a pregnant woman who tested positive for COVID 19 and she delivered a baby boy which had tested negative. There has not been any positive case in Pudukottai district till April 20 and the first case emerged from Mirattunilai panchayat and the patient was sent to Tiruchy MGMGH for treatment.
Meanwhile, as many as 3694, who had a travel history, were home quarantined in Thanjavur while Tiruchy home quarantined 3045. Similarly, Tiruvarur had home quarantined 2261 and Nagapattinam 2034.
Fortunately, the entire region had no case of COVID 19 since April 26 and the people have heaved a sigh of relief while the police continued to patrol ensuring the social distance.
