Justice G K Ilanthiraiyan, before whom a plea moved by A Bala Sundara Raj of Theni taluk came up for hearing, noted that the petitioner was one of the accused in the scam of Group IV and Group II-A examination conducted by the TNPSC, by fabricating the documents, forging the signatures of government officials and issued optical mark recognition (OMR) sheets.

“They committed very serious offence against the society as such and this court had dismissed the bail petitions of the co-accused on various occasions. Therefore, this court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner and hence, this petition stands dismissed,” the judge said.

Additional Public Prosecutor Mohammed Riyaz submitted that the petitioner acted as a mediator and collected money from the candidate in connection with Group II-A and Group IV examination conducted by TNPSC.

He was charged of being the main person in committing the offence of fabricating documents, forging signature and issuing OMR sheets to the respective candidates, the government lawyer said, and submitted that Bala Sundara Raj should not be granted bail as investigation was still pending.
