Palaniswami briefs PM on virus situation in Tamil Nadu
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the steps taken by the State in containing the spread of COVID-19 during a telephonic conversation on Sunday.

“Tamil Nadu government is taking all possible steps in a full-fledged manner to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the State. The State is conducting 48,000 tests per day, which is the highest in the country,” the Chief Minister told Modi.
Palaniswami added that steps were taken to bring normalcy in the State. The Chief Minister also briefed about the current number of beds available to treat patients. Prime Minister Modi spoke to Palaniswami during his telephonic conversations with Chief Ministers of all the states on Sunday to know the COVID-19 situation across the country. Meanwhile, the complete lockdown on Sunday came in the way of Chief Minister Palaniswami’s proposed return journey from Salem to Chennai. The trip was postponed by a day on Monday.
As per his itinerary, the Chief Minister was supposed to leave for the capital on Sunday. However, he reportedly decided to leave on Monday in view of the complete lockdown on Sunday, said an AIADMK functionary.
