TN COVID-19: 5,609 new cases reported, death toll exceeds 100

The state has recorded the highest single-day death toll with 109 succumbing to corona raising the death count to 4,241.

The testing were done in 122 laboratories across the State and a total of 58,211 samples were tested. Of which as many as 5,609 persons tested positive for coronavirus infection in Tamil Nadu over the past 24 hours, the state health department officials said.

In a statement issued here on Monday, the health department said the State recorded around 5,609 new infections were registered, taking the total tally to 2,63,222 of corona infections till date.

The total number of Covid-19 patients who succumbed over the past 24-hours was 109 taking the death toll of the State to 4,241.

On the positive side, 5,800 Covid-19 patients were cured and discharged from various hospitals in the state. The total number of cured persons goes up to 2,02,283.

In total, around 56,698 patients are under treatment which includes self-isolation as well,  in TamilNadu.

The state capital Chennai saw a downward trend in Covid-19 infection chart with 1,021 persons testing positive for the virus. While Ranipet followed the capital with 382 new cases and the southern district Virudhunagar registered 348.
