The concerned officials managed to trace them by late night and took them for treatment.

The health officials had conducted a COVID-19 camp at Kalanivasal near Sethibavachanthiram in Thanjavur on September 22, during which as many as 108 underwent tests and 28 persons from the area tested positive.

On Friday, when the results came, the health officials went to the village and asked the 28 persons to come for treatment.

However, they refused to go with the officials and claimed that they had no faith in the testing system and stressed that they do not have any symptoms of COVID-19 so far.

Still, the officials attempted to convince them and took them for the treatment. However, residents from the village argued with the officials that they do not have the symptoms and not to insist on treatment.

By the time when the residents went on arguing with the officials, those 28 positive persons reportedly escaped from their houses which triggered tension among the officials.

On information, Peravurani Tahsildhar Jayalakshmi and Sethibavachanthiram Union President Muthumanikam and other officials rushed to Kalanivasal and held talks with the residents.

The residents demanded to re-test but the officials went on explaining them about the seriousness of incident.

Meanwhile, the team of officials went in search of the persons with COVID-19 positive and could trace them by around 12 midnight.

Later, the officials took them to the isolation ward in Thanjavur and later, they heaved a great sigh of relief.
