Tamil Nadu’s COVID-19 tally breaches 7 lakh-mark

Tamil Nadu’s overall COVID-19 case tally breached the seven lakh-mark on Thursday as 3,077 more persons tested positive.

4,314 persons were discharged after treatment across the State. So far, 6,55,170 persons have been discharged in the State.

The State’s COVID-19 aggregate stood at 7,00,193, while the death toll climbed to 10,825 with 45 more patients succumbing to the infection.

Tamil Nadu recorded the first coronavirus case on March 7, but July, August and September saw a rapid increase in the cases.

Health department in its bulletin said of the 45 deaths, 25 were reported in government hospitals and 20 in private hospitals.

The total number of active cases stood at 34,198.

A total of 81,259 samples were tested by RT-PCR in the last 24 hours taking the total number of samples tested till date to 92,75,108.

A total of 4,314 patients were discharged in the day, taking the count of recovered cases to 6,55,170.

Chennai recorded 833 fresh cases today, taking the city’s caseload to 1,93,299 while the death toll increased to 3,569 with 13 more fatalities.
