It is said, Loganathan (40), a resident of Karanthai in Thanjavur, a coconut tree climber (coconut plucker) went to climb trees of one Tamilarasan’s coconut grove at Moopanar street near Karanthai. After plucking coconuts from a few trees, Loganathan climbed a 55 feet tree. Tamilarasan, who did not witness any movement from Loganathan, called him repeatedly. As he failed to respond, he raised an alarm and the neighbours gathered down the tree and called him. Even then he did not respond. They passed on the information to the Thanjavur Fire and Rescue personnel. The Thanjavur West police rushed to the spot immediately and the fire personnel climbed atop the tree with the help of a ladder. To their surprise, Loganathan was inebriated and fast asleep on the tree crown.

Subsequently, the fire person- nel asked him to climb down by the ladder, but he was adamant that he would climb down the tree on his own. After reaching the ground, he told the crowd in a lighter mood that he was feeling sleepy and so slept there itself. Later, the police sent him after a warning.
