Ma Subramanian inaugurates special camp for journalists to register for CMCHIS
The Health Minister said that as many as 258 journalists have been brought under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Insurance Scheme, without any income slab. The special camp continues for two weeks and journalists, their families can benefit from this.
Chennai: Health Minister Ma Subramanian inaugurated a special medical camp for journalists at the Omandurar Government Hospital to register under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS).
Currently, 1,700 hospitals are providing treatment under CMCHIS scheme with additional medical facilities. Of these, 800 are government hospitals and 900 are private hospitals and 1,090 medical and surgical procedures are allowed under this scheme.
The insurance scheme benefits people from other States, and Sri Lankans living in Tamil Nadu for more than 6 months, Sri Lankan Tamils, living outside the Sri Lankan camp, the elderly and the destitute, families with disabilities, and families who have lost their parents to Covid infection.

He said that Chief Minister M K Stalin recently launched state-of-the-art robotic surgery department at the Tamil Nadu Government Multi-Super Speciality Hospital at Omandurar Government Estate and the technology was recently put to use in a government hospital for the first time on a 44-year-old patient suffering from urinary tract cancer. The patient was successfully operated and discharged on the second day post treatment.
