EPS becomes AIADMK general secretary after HC ruling
With no one filing nominations, EPS gets elected to the party’s top post unopposed.
CHENNAI: Soon after the Madras High Court rejected the interim applications filed by former chief minister O Panneerselvam and his supporters against AIADMK general council resolutions, the leader of the Opposition in the House Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday was declared elected as party's general secretary.
On March 18, Palaniswami filed his nomination for the AIADMK general secretary post.
With court ruling in his favour, he went to AIADMK headquarters at Royapettah and received the certificate from the party's poll officials. He was elected to the post unopposed.
Soon after taking over as AIADMK general secretary, Palaniswami said he was unanimously elected and thanked all the party cadres and senior party functionaries for supporting him.
He said the party's primary membership drive will begin from April 5.
