Dozens of IRS officers promoted, get new postings
In its order, the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance said that promotion of officers who are currently on deputation outside the department would take effect only after they repatriate to the cadre and report to the CBIC.

Ensuring smooth and timely career progression of officers of Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise), the Centre has cleared promotions of 94 officers and posted them to various positions.
In its order, the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance said that promotion of officers who are currently on deputation outside the department would take effect only after they repatriate to the cadre and report to the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) for joining the promotional post.
The IRS Association (Customs and Central Excise) has been taking up the issue of timely promotion with the Finance Ministry and the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
The CBIC, under the Revenue Department, has also transferred and posted as many as three dozen revenue officers in the grade of Principal Commissioner and Commissioner with immediate effect.
Some of these senior tax officers are Radhey Shyama Maheshwari, Sanjay Rathi, Dinesh Purushottam Rao Pangarkar and Charul Baranwal. The officers have been directed to immediately join at their new postings.
"No representation whatsoever shall be entertained before they join at their new place of posting," said an order issued by S.A. Ansari, Under Secretary in the Finance Ministry.
The order said that all representations received till date regarding transfer/posting in the grades of Principal Commissioner/Commissioner of Customs, CGST and Central Excise stand disposed off.
