    The makers of Jayalalithaa’s biopic, Thalaivi, have brought Priyamani on board to play the role of the former’s close aide, Sasikala.

    After a brief hiatus post her marriage to a Dubai based businessman, the National Award winning actress Priyamani surprised the audience by making a comeback with the popular web series, The Family Man.


    The actress also announced that she will be part of a Tamil film, which will have Kannada actor Praveen Reddy in the lead role. The latest we hear that the Paruthiveeran girl has been roped in to play a pivotal role in the biopic of the late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, Thalaivi. A source close to the film’s unit also reveals us that she will be reprising the role of Sasikala, who spent major part of her life with the late Chief Minister. “Director Vijay approached many top actors in Tamil industry to play the role of Sasikala. However, many turned down the offer considering the controversies that the political personality had been involved in. But Priyamani felt that it would be challenge of sorts to play her on screen and gave bulk dates.” The source adds, “Priyamani will be sharing screen space with Kangana Ranaut throughout the second half of the film.”


    The first look poster of Thalaivi, featuring Kangana Ranaut as Jayalalithaa, didn’t go down well with a section of the netizens and many expressed their disappointment on social media. Bankrolled by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Sahilesh R Singh, the Hindi version of the film has been titled Jaya.Arvind Swami will be seen playing the role of the late Chief Minister MG Ramachandran in the film. GV Prakash will compose the music and Vijayendra Prasad has penned the dialogues.
