Kamal fans unconvinced with Lawrence’s explanation
Raghava Lawrence’s speech at the Darbar audio launch in which he said that he threw cow dung on Kamal Haasan’s posters as a child, has irked Ulaganayagan’s fans.
Chennai
Superstar Rajinikanth’s Darbar audio launch was a star-studded event that took place in the city on Saturday. Raghava Lawrence, a diehard Rajinikanth fan, was one among the many invitees on the big day. The choreographer-actor ruffled a few feathers during his speech at the event that ended up disappointing Kamal Haasan’s fans. He said, “I used to vandalise Kamal Haasan’s posters by throwing cow dung at them when I was a child. Now things have changed. When I see Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth being close friends, walking hand-in-hand, I realise that something else is bound to happen.” This certainly did not go down well with Kamal Haasan’s fans, who took to social media and lashed out at Raghava Lawrence and commented that he had made an insensitive comment on a big stage.
The actor quickly put up a statement on his social media page that read, “After my speech at Darbar audio launch I saw few posts only highlighting that I hit cow dung on Kamal sir’s poster, see the whole video I had said being a Thalaivar fan I did such thing against Kamal sir without knowing. He also added saying that when I see them walking by holding hands today I feel very happy. I have huge respect for Kamal sir. Whenever I feel that I have spoken something wrong I will apologise to anyone but I haven’t said anything wrong you will know if you see the whole video properly. Few people are planning to twist this. I know how much respect I have for Kamal sir by heart. I think it’s not necessary to prove or explain it to any one. (sic)”However, Kamal’s loyalists are in no mood to give up on the issue and have said that they will make Lawrence apologise for his statement.
